Recent Activities

The College has a well established library which caters to the need of the undergraduate and post graduate students, research scholars and the faculty. At present the library has a collection of 34186 books and subscribes to 42 Journals, 18 periodicals and 10 newspapers. The library is semi-automated and the process of complete automation is on.Librarian

BENYAMINODAOPPAM ITHIRINERAM

As part of the project of popularizing books and inculcating the reading habit in students, the library of

The Cochin College organized a Meet the Writer session  Bennyaminodoppam Alpam Neram  with the

popular and critically acclaimed Malayalam writer Bennyamin ( Benny Daniel).

 

 

 

 

The inauguration of the "Competitive Exam Training Programme" which is being conducted on behalf of the Library Club - Aksharam , was held on 5th of October 2017.

 

The programme was inaugurated by chief guest Mr M V Benny, former columnist in the Indian Express, and former editor of a leading Malayalam weekly.

 

The programme precided by our college Manager Mr Vidhyasagar.

 

Library advisory committee member Mrs. MridulaMenon welcomed the gathering.

 

The Vice principal Mr. Sarathchandran delivered the felicitation speech.

 

Librarian Mrs. Jeena Jayan deliverd vote of thanks for the meeting.

Library Club "Aksharam"


The library club “AKSHARAM” was inaugurated on 22 March 2016 by
Dr. M. D. Baby, HOD, Dept. of Library and Information Science, Rajagiri
College of Social Sciences who talked on the benefits of having a library club
in the college.


Extension Activity - "Vayanakazhcha"


The Library of the Cochin College carried out an extension activity in
the Anganwadi of the adopted ward of the college on Mother’s Day, 27 May
2016. The librarian Mrs. Jeena Jayan took a class for the children’s mothers
on the importance of reading newspapers. Books and stationery were
distributed to the mothers.


 Madhyamam “ Velicham”


Fifteen copies of the newspaper Madhyamam were donated to the
library on daily basis by an anonymous well­wisher. This was received by the
manager of The Cochin College Mr. T. Vidyasagar at a ceremony on 16
August 2016.

 


Book Exhibition


The library organized a two day book exhibition in association with
H&C Books, Kochi on 13 and 14 December with the aim to inculcate  the
habit of book buying and reading among students. The response from the
students and faculty was encouraging with vast number of them perusing the
books for a period of time before zeroing in on the one who decided to take
home.

The Cochin College Library conducted an Inter-department quiz competition in memory of

Swami Vivekananda on 23rd January 2015.
