Department of Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1969 and became a fully fledged Department by starting a degree course in 2005. The Department offers B.Sc Mathematics (Model II) with vocational subject Computer Science and allied subject Operation Research under self –financing stream. During the course period they study pure and applied Mathematics along With Operations Research and Computer Science.
Operations Research is one of the branches of mathematics in which recently some of the major research works are being carried out. A strong Foundation about the subject is laid down during the first 4 semesters. And in computer science the students are trained in computer languages which mainly include C++, SQL etc. In the final semester students produce a project work in computer science in languages like VISUAL BASICS, JAVA, .NET which gives an exposure of their IT skills resulting in good placements even in the IT field.
As a further step ahead towards the research field the department was upgraded to a post graduate department by introducing MSc Mathematics in 2012.
The department regularly conducts workshops and seminars in various topics of mathematics and computer science.
Library and Lab
The department is equipped with a resourceful library and a fully furnished computer lab so that students get every bit of information for their overall development.
Our Departmental inauguration was held on 15th October 2012 along with which we launched our new course M.Sc mathematics. On the same day we successfully conducted a seminar on “Introduction to Fractals” by Mr.Vinod Kumar .P.B of Rajagiri School of Engg & Tech which was attended by all the PG students of the college.
On 14th December 2012 we organized a workshop on Information Technology which was conducted with the aim of giving a foundation to the final year students in various computer languages.
On 15th February 2013 we held a seminar on Operations Research by Mr.Shinto.K.G, Asst.Professor,The Christ College ,Irinjalakuda. The main objective of this seminar was to introduce the relevance of the subject in research level .
A seminar on Multivariate and integral calculus was organized on 2nd August 2013. The resourse person for the seminar was Mr.Bernad K.A , Asst.Professor ST.Albert’s College, Ernakulam .The seminar covered vast areas of Fourier Series ,Fourier Integral,Jordan theorem —etc.
On 12th September 2013 we organized a workshop on Information Technology which was conducted with the aim of giving a foundation to the final year students in various computer languages.
