Department of Chemistry
The department of chemistry was established in 1967 and elevated to the graduate level in 1980 with the introduction of B.Sc. (Chemistry main) course. Apart from offering the B.Sc. core course, the department also offers chemistry as a complementary to B.Sc. Zoology. In the year 2002 it was upgraded to the postgraduate level by introducing the M.Sc. course in pure chemistry. The department has a separate library with a collection of rare and costly books for the reference of PG and UG students.
Apart from doing the primary responsibility of teaching and guiding, the department is engaged in other extension activities by organizing seminars of general and current interest, exhibitions and awareness classes for PG and UG students. The department has continuously secured ranks in the M.G. University. It has bagged nine 1st rank four 2nd ranks and three 3rd ranks in fourteen years. After the introduction of grading system from 2013, we secured two A+ and five A grades.
