Department of Chemistry (Aided)

The department of chemistry was established in 1967 with the very inception of the college and was elevated to the graduate level in 1980 with the introduction of undergraduate programme (B.Sc. Chemistry). Apart from offering the B.Sc. core course, the department also offers chemistry as a complementary to B.Sc. Zoology. In the year 2002 it was upgraded to the postgraduate level by introducing the M.Sc. course in pure chemistry. Through years, the Department has moulded young minds of many generations into eminent academicians, researchers and outstanding personalities who have served the community in many ways. The main emphasis of the Department is on the overall development of students by providing them with quality education, research, co-curricular activities and job opportunities. Apart from doing the primary responsibility of teaching and guiding, the department is engaged in other extension activities by organizing seminars of general and current interest, exhibitions and awareness classes for PG and UG students.

Vision

The Department of Chemistry endeavours to provide quality education in Chemical science to enable the undergraduate and post graduate students • to excel in academics and Chemical research • to make them think rationally and critically • to make them scientifically literate and socially committed

Mission

The main emphasis of the Department is on the overall development of students by providing them with quality education, research, co-curricular activities and job opportunities. By integrating teaching, research and co-curricular activities the Department will produce students who are academically literate and socially committed.
