Department of Zoology (Self-Financing)
Zoology is one of the branches of pure science dealing with the study of animals
It encompasses various areas such as diversity, taxonomy, biochemistry, ethology, evolution, ecology, genetics, developmental biology, physiology, immunology, and applied biology disciplines like biostatistics, biophysics, instrumentation, biotechnology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and many others. The subject can be studied through various innovative ways, such as experiential learning, collaborative learning, in addition to the traditional mode of learning.
The PG Department of Zoology was started in 2013. It offers Medical Microbiology as the specialization for the 4th semester and is the only affiliated college under MG University to offer this specialization. As part of experiential learning, the department arranges field trips and institute visits across the country. It uses ICT and interactive teaching and learning techniques. The department also features a well-equipped zoology and microbiology lab.
Zoology departments are staffed by a diverse group of faculty members, researchers, and experts in various fields of zoology. These faculties often have their own research interests and projects, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field. The goal of the department is to make the subject intriguing and enjoyable to learn.
Vision
Our objective is to establish the department as a eminent institution in the state in the fields of Zoology and Microbiology, with a strong emphasis on the domains of learning, teaching, and research.
To attain this status, we intend to prioritize interdisciplinary research collaborations, and make substantial investments in cutting-edge facilities and equipment.
Additionally, we will actively engage our students in research initiatives to ensure excellence in both pedagogy and scientific exploration.
Mission
Our mission is to deliver comprehensive education in both theoretical and practical aspects of Zoology and Microbiology. In pursuit of this mission, we aim to nurture and develop future leaders in the field of life sciences. Additionally, we endeavor to stimulate students' interest in applied sciences and actively support research and advanced learning at the postgraduate and higher academic levels. To accomplish these objectives, we will employ a holistic curriculum, provide experiential learning opportunities, establish leadership development initiatives, and create an enabling environment for cutting-edge research and learning.
