UGC SPONSORED ONE DAY STATE SEMINAR

The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics The Cochin College, Kochi with academic assistance from Kerala Mathematical Association organized U.G.C sponsored one day state seminar on 17th October 2014. The ceremony was officially inaugurated by Sri.T Vidyasagar, Manager of The Cochin College. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr Jose P.Abraham, The Principal, The Cochin College. Prof. P.S.Subhadrammal. Head of the Post Graduate Department of Mathematics formally welcomed the gathering from different colleges mainly Maharaja's college, St Albert's college. Bharthmatha college, KMM college, St.paul's college and The Cochin college. She mentioned that Multivariate Calculus can be applied to analyse deterministic system that have multiple degree of freedom. The responsibility of anchoring was carried out by T.N.Lakshmi and Prinyanka K.N. Respected dignitaries were invited to deliver their wisdom words on various papers Amongst them was Dr.P.G.Romeo, H.O.D of Mathematics Department Cusat presented a presentation on "Linear Algebra" The lecture started off with the basic concepts of group theory and took the audience to the beautiful world of "Vector Spaces". The second session was conducted by Dr. Sunny Kuriakose, Dean, FISAT. His talks enlightened the participants with extensive information on Cryptography which is closely related to the disciplines of Cryptology and Cryptanalysis. He added that in recent times, Cryptography has turned into a background of some of the world's best mathematicians and computer scientists. After his excellent lecture, there was an interactive session discussing the different job opportunities in the field of Cryptography. This session came to an end with a vote of thanks. After the lunch break, the third session began with an interesting lecture by Dr.Ramkumar P.B.AdiShankara Engineering College Kalady on the topic "Multivariate Calculus". This session has got good response. Ms Serene P.Tom. Faculty of The Department of Mathematics thanked all respected speakers on behalf of organizing committee. The benefits of the seminar reached more than 160 participants all over Kerala. At the valedictory function, faculties and students from different colleges mention that as the seminar was M.Sc curriculum based, they got an overview of various P.G papers and was useful in exam point of view also. The seminar came to an end with certificate distribution.
